Syracuse, Georgetown near deal for 10-year series

Syracuse and Georgetown are close to signing a 10-year basketball contract that would peg the two former Big East rivals against each other annually.

SU Athletic Director Daryl Gross announced on Wednesday night during his radio show on TK99 that Syracuse signed the contract and is waiting for Georgetown to do the same. He didn’t mention when the series would begin, The Post-Standard reported.

The Orange and Hoyas last played in SU’s final Big East Tournament last season and won’t play this upcoming season.

Gross also announced on Wednesday that the university will break ground on its new football practice facility on Sunday.
