Syracuse football recruiting: Class of 2017 wide receiver Nykeim Johnson commits to the Orange

Syracuse picked up a commitment Tuesday evening from Class of 2017, three-star wide receiver Nykeim Johnson. He announced his decision via Twitter.

The Friendship (Washington D.C.) Academy slot receiver attended a camp on Syracuse’s campus Sunday afternoon, according to multiple reports, and received an offer from Dino Babers’ staff.

The 5-foot-9, 167-pound receiver picked Syracuse over Charlotte, Bowling Green and the Orange’s Atlantic Coast Conference foe Virginia. He is ranked with three stars by Rivals.com and on 247Sports.com’s composite rankings system.

He runs a 4.42-second 40-yard dash, according to his Hudl.com player page. He also played cornerback in high school.

Johnson is the sixth commitment for Syracuse in the Class of 2017 and the fourth offensive player. He is also the second receiver, joining unranked Sharod Johnson from Florida. Though Sharod is 2 inches taller at 5 feet 11 inches, he and Nykeim are roughly the same weight.
