Evan Molloy wins ACC Defensive Player of the Week

Evan Molloy saved seven of 14 shots on net against the Blue Jays.

Syracuse goalie Evan Molloy was named ACC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season after holding rival Johns Hopkins to seven goals Saturday.

The Orange (5-1, 1-0 Atlantic Coast) defeated the Blue Jays in an 8-7 overtime thriller, remaining at No. 6 in this week’s Inside Lacrosse rankings. Molloy finished the game with seven saves on 14 shots and a caused turnover. He picked up an assist as well in the win.

SU held JHU scoreless for over 25 minutes, including the entire second quarter, where Molloy picked up five saves.

Syracuse returns from its two-game road trip on Saturday at 1:30 to take on ACC rival and No. 11 Duke.
